Finally, I've completed an original tune...
Modeling after Vivaldi's Four Seasons, I created a tune that progresses through the weather, and in this case, a thunderstorm. Shades Of Grey song starts off with a Baroque/Bach style intro and the song progresses into an acoustic section very much influenced by Opeth's quiet tunes. It reaches the climax (the thunderstorm) with the metal section and solo and ends on a calm jazz vibe that symbolizes the skies clearing up.
This is the hardest song I've ever recorded. It required many sharp syncronizations of the instruments, as well as detailed articulations that were achieved only after hours of tries. I've spent a total of more than 20 hours recording and producing this song but it all paid off in the end.
This song was originally intended to be an assignment for my school music class. However, I thought it was good enough to be an actual song so I went back and added more details to make it a good song.
Notable influences I gathered from this tune are: JS Bach for the Baroque intro and counter melodies, Opeth and particularly their song "Harvest" for the acoustic ambience and progression concept, Marty Friedman for his influence on me as a lead guitarist and also as a songwriter, in which I picked up numerous techniques he uses in both his guitar playing and song productions and structuring.
Anyways, if you're reading this and haven't checked out Shades Of Grey yet, please go to my artist page and give it a listen! I'd appreciate it and I'm sure you will enjoy it!
